Item Details
Posted: December 7, 2001

Today we will focus our attention on Item Details and their Abilities.

For more information on Figures get their Figures. The brief Descriptive Text should give you more background on the game and such. Although, there are a whole lot to get....

Capsule

Capsule

A small Carrier.
Items are inside of it the Capsule.
You can get out the items inside the Capsule by throwing it against the ground or the floor, or even your opponent, or by attacking it.
There is a 1:8 chance of the Capsule to explode on impact,
plus the chance of a Bob-Omb being inside one and exploding is there too.

Box

Box

A large Carrier.
By attacking it or throwing it the items inside will come out.

  • Chance of 1 Items Inside: 30%
  • Chance of 2 Items Inside: 20%
  • Chance of 3 Items Inside: 40%
  • Chance of the Box Exploding: 10%

Barrel

Barrel

Basically a rolling Box.
While it is rolling it gives damage,
so it is advised to keep your distance if you choose to break it with force.

Egg

Egg

The same thing as the Capsule, just with a different look.
It makes its appearance in Stages like Yoshi Story.
The Pokemon Chansey will now throw out Eggs along with some Food things for variety.

Food

Food

When you eat them a very small portion of your damage will be healed. There are 28 in all, and depending on the variety they do different things.

  • Hamburger: 6
  • Fried Rice: 7
  • Cold Noodles: 5
  • Omelet: 7
  • Chinese Style Japanese Noodles in Soup: 7
  • Juice: 3
  • Rice Ball: 6
  • Doughnut: 4
  • Broiled Eel on Rice: 9
  • Curry: 7
  • Pasta: 6
  • Apple: 5
  • Manderin Orange: 4
  • Strawberry: 3
  • Grape: 4
  • Melon: 6
  • Watermelon: 6
  • Banana: 5
  • Mushroom: 3
  • Cheese: 3
  • Chicken: 7
  • Pounded Rice Balls: 3
  • Ice Cream: 3
  • Sushi: 8
  • Pizza: 8
  • Beef Bowl With Rice: 7
  • Milk: 5
  • Black Tea: 2

Maxim Tomato

Maxim Tomato

When you eat this item you will recover 50.
Even when you don't need the healing you can just take the
Maxim Tomato right in front of your opponenet.
But then the sportsman thing to do would be to give your opponent one too.... maybe.
Do you do that? You do? You don't? I see how it is....

Heart Container

Heart Container

When you collect this item you will recover 100.
Because it falls so slowly it is wise to grab it in midair when you find it.
And since grabbing items in air is done by pressing Z it's so easy!

Warp Star

Warp Star

You will rise up, then nose dive to attack.
The fall and the explosion at the end,
gives off two different types of damage.
Before you drop you can use the left and right on the Control Stick
to change the course of the Warp Star to a certain degree.
(This makes one of the Event War stages a lot easier!)
Maching your course with your opponents is key, but be careful not to kill yourself.

Ray Gun

Ray Gun

By pressing A you will fire a High Speed Energy Shot. Your ammo limit is 16 shots.
Because firing it is so quick, you can hit opponents over and over again.
But to balance it the Ray Gun is weak.
The Ray Gun is often ranked as the Item best used for harassing your opponent..
When you fire there is a decorative glow.

Super Scope

Super Scope

If you press the button rapidly you will fire a barrage of shots. When you hold the button
you can fire off a charged blast. Choose your choice depending on the situation,
making the Super Scope a very versatile projectile Item.
If you turned the Battery Capacity of the Super Scope to a number it would be 48.
At the weakest strength you can fire 48 shots,
while the strongest shots can only be fired 3 times.
Once you start charging there's no way to stop, so if your opponent
pulls out a Reflector right in front of you there's nothing you can do.
It is also very common for players to start charging the Super Scop in midair.

Fire Flower

Fire Flower

An projectile blasting fire Item.
The ammo limit of the fire is 120 shots.
Because the attack is rapid hitting it is best to try slide away as fast as possible
and try to abate some of the damage.

Lip's Stick

Lip's Stick

When you swing the Stick it will spray.
If your opponent is hit by the Stick's attacks a flower will grow out of their heads.
The duration the flower is on their head, their damage will slowly rise.
The amount of time the flower is on their head is relative to the amount of damage done.
Basically, it means that hitting them with the stick itself,
or even throwing the stick at them will keep the flower on
longer than if they had just been hit by the flower.
(It is possible to shorten the amount of time it is on by jiggling the Control Stick.)
When the stick hits the ground it will spray in everything in teh vicinity.
By continuing to attack it is possible to make the flower bigger,
but the actual damage dealt doesn't change.

Star Rod

Star Rod

Strong or Smash attacks will fire Star shaped blasts.
The ammo limit for the Stars is 16.
The Stars from the Smash Attack version move faster.
If you hit your opponent with the Rod itself and the Star shaped blasts at the same time
it will give massive amounts of dmage.
When you throw the Star Rod at someone it sends them flying diagonally downward,
making this a very effective attack near cliffs.
When Captain Falcon uses a Smash Attack with the Star Rod, and holds the button down,
he will fire 4 Stars at once. Be warned that this lowers the amount of damagae the stars do.

Beam Sword

Beam Sword

A weapon that changes length when you use it.
The Beam Sword is proud to have the longest reach of all the melee attacking items.
Although, the reach of the Beam Sword can be great or small. It will change
depending on the attacks you do, like Dash or Smash Attacks.
Different methods of using the Beam Sword include
doing many weak slices to just keep your opponent back,
or, if you are at a safe distance away, taking a big swing to blast them away.

Homerun Bat

Homerun Bat

Doing a Smash Attack with the Homerun Bat will blast your opponent away with great force.
The Homerun Contest is usually done by picking up the Homerun Bat.
Using the tip of the Bat will send your opponent further.
The base (or Grip) of the Bat's attack effifiency depends on the person.

Fan

Fan

A Melee Attacking Item that can be swung swiftly.
Because you can rapidly hit someone with this item it does little damage.
But the low damage also means that it is hard to perform the Hit Stop Slide maneuver.
Opponents who are hit by it come closer to you, if they get hit when it is thrown at them
they fly upwards, and it is easy to break shields with the Fan.
Indeed, there are many features to this Item.

Hammer

Hammer

When you pick the Hammer up you will begin to earnestly swing it.
It deals great damage, and will also send your opponent flying,
but if you are still holding on to the Hammer and are flung off the edge
you can neither Air Jump nor perform any Special Moves,
making Returning very difficult.
Because of this you might want to watch out for Link and Samus' throws.
There is a 12.5% chance that the Hammer-Head will fall off.

Green Shell

Green Shell

If you jump on it, throw it, or attack it, the Green Shell will glide straight forward to attack.
Dependin on how hard you hit the Green Shell it will move at a corresponding speed.
Characters with Reflectors are free to reflect the Green Shell right back to its owner.

Red Shell

Red Shell

A guided turtle shell that follows Characters, moving on ground level.
It is a rarity to be Knocked Out by the red shell.
Maybe it would have been better if we made the Red Shell remember
the amount of damage it recieves and deal the same amount of damage to anything it hits.

Flipper

Flipper

When you throw the Flipper it will stop in midair and float.
Anyone who comes in contact to it will be thrown back.
It deals basically no damage, but it is very
useful in situations where Players are trying to Return to the course,
or in cramped areas. It is a good item to use to get in the way.
Because it floats in a fixed location,
the Flipper can be left behind depanding on Stages that scroll.

Freezie

Freezie

When you throw this against your opponent they will freeze, disabling them from moving.
While they are frozen you cannot blast them away, but you can keep damaging them.
Be warned that when you damage anyone in the Ice,
the amount of time that the remain frozen decreases.
So it might be more effective if you instead push someone off a cliff, if you can.
The Freezie is fragile to balance out its power, and will break at the slightest shock.
Handle it with ever so muc care when you recover it.
Don't tell anyone, but it was originally planned for the Freezie to freeze the floor too.

Mr. Saturn

Mr. Saturn

And Item who's effective use is distantly related.
When thrown he does no real impressive damage, nor have any real effect on his target.
Yet when thrown Mr. Saturn can counter projectiles, as well as drag items.
He just invites accidents.
Mr. Saturn is also good at breaking shields too.
There are many Special Bonuses related to Mr. Saturn.

Monster Ball

Monster Ball

From inside a random Pokemo will come out.
Because the Pokemon only comes out if the Monster Ball hits the ground,
you must be careful not to throw it off the screen.
Introducing all the Pokemon will take too long,
so we save that for another time.

Bob-Omb

Bob-Omb

A walking bomb that carries enormous explosive strength.
Before it starts walking, you can pick the Bob-Omb up, and throw it like a normal item,
all the way until right before it explodes.
Make sure not to attack it if by accident, and it's dangerous once it starts walking.
If a Sudden Death takes too long large quantities of Bob-Ombs appear to quicken things.

Sensor Bomb

Sensor Bomb

An explosive that latches itself onto walls, ceilings, and floor.
When any Character, friend or foe, draws near, it explodes.
Search for key locations where you think it will come in handy.
Popular positions are high grounds and cliffs.
If you see an opponent set up a Sensor Bomb,
it is wise to either use Items or a Sword to remove the threat.

Super Mushroom

Super Mushroom

If you grab this item you will become a giant.
You attack strength will rise while you are in giant form,
as well as it makes you harder to get knocked away.
You will be more vulnerable attacks when you jump or land.
In Giant Melee you will start off big,
and will grow even larger if you grab a Super Mushroom.

Poison Mushroom

Poison Mushroom

The opposite of the Super Mushroom. Characters shrink.
Attack strength decreases, and it is easier to blast you away,
but it becomes harder for your opponent to hit you.
When you are big your voice becomes deeper,
and when you are small you voice becomes higher.

Super Star

Super Star

When collected, the Super Star makes you invvincible for 10 seconds.
All enemy attacks have no effect on you during this time.
The Star Bounces off of the ground, and just by touching it you will feel it's affects.

Parasol

Parasol

While holding the Parasol you will float gently to the ground after being blasted away.
But because Players drop Items easily when they get hit by strong attacks,
you may be left without an Item in an important situation....
When you throw the Parasol it floats slowly down
so you can use it as a floating mine almost.

Screw Attack

Screw Ball

Just by holding this Item your normal jumps become Samus' Screw Atack.
Ram your opponents to attack. Character's jumping abilities slightly increase too.
If you throw it at someone you will force them to Screw Attack on the spot.
In those cases the Screw Attack differs from when you normally hold the Item and jump,
because when you are falling back down you cannot move.
Use this Item to hinder someone trying to Return to the Stage,
or aas a quick counter attack.

Green Block

Green Block

By directly attacking, or by picking this Item up, your Character will become Metal.
You will recieve damage normally, but you will be heavier and harder to blast away.
While Metal you will fall quicker, but your jumping will increase a little as well,
making it possible to do rather nimble moves.
On the other hand, your walking speed is slowed.
Basically you will stay Metal for 12 seconds,
but when you are damaged the time is shortened.

Bunny Hood

Bunny Hood

If you wear the Bunny Hood your running speed, walking speed, and jumping speed
all become aproximately twice as fast, while the speed you fall becomes aproximately
1.5 as fast.
There is also that certain cuteness that Characters gain when they have bunny ears.
Because you move at ferocious speeds,
running around or getting chased with these can be rather troublesome.
On the other hand, with such great jumping ability,
it can become harder use it with attacks.

Cloaking Device

Cloaking Device

With this Item you will become Invisible for 10 seconds.
While Invisible we added the extra that you get no damage.
The only catch is that you will still be blasted away normally.
When you attack with the Cloaking Device you will show yourself a little bit.
If you have a Name Registered, the cursor will still appear above your head
defeating the purpose of the Cloaking Device a bit....
With some practice, you can learn to determine
where the general loacatio of your Invisible enemy is.

Barrel Cannon

Barrel Cannon

When you throw this it will spin and roll, trapping the person it hits inside.
While inside the Barrel Cannon you press the Button
to be blasted out in the direction the arrow on the side is pointing to.
To be selfish, place the Cannon in places where it is impossible
for anyone to benefit from it.

Party Ball

Party Ball

After attacking or throwing the Pary Ball it will float in midair a while
before dropping random Items.
The probability of the inside items can be determined
by refering back to the Figure Descriptive Text.
